Over the years, we've proudly hosted competitions with Make It In Design to find the next designer wallpaper collections. However, this year, we've had a slightly different brief for the up-and-coming artists...

Earlier last year, Wallsauce introduced wall prints to its UK customers. To enhance this collection, we've partnered with the fabulous Make It In Design team, who inspire aspiring designers to 'Learn, Grow, Thrive.' This great group of people have come up with a stunning range of artwork from an abundance of designers.

We thoroughly enjoyed looking through the entries, and trust us, it was not easy whittling down our favourites! But we need your help! Who do YOU think should win The Next Designer Wall Prints Collection 2024 and claim a spot on Wallsauce.com?

Huda Saba

"I am a UK-based illustrator and surface pattern designer. Having worked in the footwear design business for over 5 years, my love for sketching and patterns ultimately pushed me to venture into the world of illustration and surface pattern design. I love quirky and rough sketching rather than digital drawing, and my designs are entirely hand-drawn with touches of soft watercolour here and there.

The idea of my wall art illustrations for Wallsauce.com was to design a collection of wall art for girls’ bedrooms with the aim to inspire this new generation to be unique in their own way, celebrate their authentic selves and more importantly love who they truly are."

Katie Stack

Katie Stack is a Boston-based artist and designer. After a decade-long career as an elementary school teacher, she transitioned to the creative field, where she now specializes in children’s book illustration and surface pattern design. She blends traditional and digital media in her artwork, and her favourite materials are gouache and coloured pencils. Her inspirations include travel, animals (especially dogs!), and the natural world, particularly florals.

When she’s not drawing, Katie enjoys taking her dog on a run or planning her next adventure. This collection reflects Katie’s time living in Italy, drawing inspiration from everyday Italian life. Initially envisioning wildflower bouquets in vintage tea tins, Katie ultimately chose to depict these flowers in distinctive Italian containers, such as olive oil tins and tomato sauce jars.

Each piece is crafted using gouache and colored pencil, then finalized digitally. This hybrid process infuses the artwork with painterly textures and charming imperfections, giving each print the feel of a hand-painted artwork to brighten up any space. The series consists of six prints, designed with cohesive and complementary colours, perfect for displaying individually, in pairs, or as a complete set.

Marisa Gulli

Gulli Studio is led by Marisa, a passionate artist with a background in architecture. Marisa’s love for capturing the essence of nature and the world around us is evident in her work. Inspired by the beauty and uniqueness of her surroundings, she creates captivating illustrations and surface pattern designs using texture, colour and various styles to bring elements to life. When not creating, Marisa enjoys exploring the great outdoors, photography, yoga, and the list can go on…

Inspired by vintage stamp illustrations, the Fun Fruit Collection features illustrations designed with bright colours and cute, simple details, making it easy to identify the fruit by its half. A funny pun is added to each piece, bringing humour and creativity to the piece.

"When I developed the collection, I envisioned a scenario where someone wakes up in the morning, goes for a cup of coffee, and when looks at the artwork it can change their mood for the better for the entire day."

Liz Skelton

"I'm Liz Skelton of Phatlizzardart, a Canadian artist born and raised in South Africa, now living in Ontario, Canada. My creative journey has been a long one, first as an illustrator of all things mystical and magical with faeries surrounded by all things mother-nature inspired. Then as a professional potter in Cape Town for around 15 years.

In 1997, when my family and I immigrated to Canada, I gave up pottery and started acrylic painting part-time whilst looking for full-time work. I worked in the corporate world as an IT project manager until two years ago, when I became a full-time creative. At around the same time I started digital design and got to grips with Photoshop and haven't looked back!

There are times I want to gently pinch myself as it's a dream come true again after so many years. Being an artist and designer has become the foundation of my existence. It's like fuel to my car or water to my thirst, it is my soul food.

This collection called "Juscosimachildren" is inspired by my three granddaughters who help me see the world through a different lens. My work is almost always nature-inspired and includes all things fauna and flora, but with this collection, I wanted to capture all the whimsy and magic a child might see when wandering into a garden filled with flowers, bugs and birds."

Simone Carr

Simone Carr, the designer and creator behind Ellie and Liv, is a mindful, elegant designer and illustrator for nature lovers and storytellers. Having loved art since childhood, Simone has a professional design career spanning over 23 years as a graphic designer.

In recent years, she rediscovered her love for drawing and how an illustration, painting, or pattern can capture someone's personal details and bring immense joy. Combined with her passion for nature and protecting the world, which inspires her, she has found solace in the calming rhythm of pen and ink. Allowing her mind to escape the digital, fast-paced world and create pieces filled with symbolism and people’s stories.

"The inspiration behind my herb collection was to create simple, delicate pieces that could be appreciated as a whole or enjoyed individually. I wanted the prints to be not only beautiful wall hangings but also educational, highlighting the scents and flavours each herb can add to your favourite dishes. 



Each colour was chosen to reflect the characteristics of the herbs while bringing a calming warmth to any home. I envisioned this collection fitting seamlessly in both a country house and a city apartment.”

Tanya Ganz

Tanya Ganz is an artist and surface designer who is obsessed with design, art, colour, shapes, texture and patterns and how these things can bring a smile to a face, make an atmosphere, and change a whole mood for the better. Tanya is especially inspired by the design, art and colours from her Italian upbringing, her travels, her time working in various European cities for most of her adult life, and her current time in vibrant Austin and the desert of Arizona.

Regarding her Collection 'Balance and Tranquility', Tanya writes: “The components in each illustration are of different sizes and shapes, all balancing off each other in an effortless way - the way we all seek calm, peace, and balance with all the moving parts of our life. I hope that these illustrations bring a smile, a calm, a balance, and a touch of elegance to your space.”
