Kitchen Trends 2024: Nature, Texture, Luxury

It’s been a year of change within the interior design world, and we’re excited to reveal the top kitchen trends of 2024…

One of the biggest transformations is shifting away from model homes that are picture-perfect. Instead, we’re investing our money in beautiful, functional design that aligns with real life. Instagram kitchens still get our vote, but a considered space that makes cooking/cleaning/living easier is the ultimate goal.

With this in mind, what are the kitchen trends 2024 has unearthed already? We’ve looked into some of the most-talked about kitchen styles according to interior design experts, as well as some enduring trend stories that we’re likely to see as we move into the second half of the year.

Organic, always and forever

It’s hard to call this a trend, so much as an interior design mainstay. In fact, we’d go as far to say that nature should always be a golden rule. The natural environment inspires everything we create for the home, from prints and patterns to the colours we fall in love with. They all come from the world outside…

That’s why nature returns year after year as a major ‘trend’, so don’t be afraid to refresh what you already have if biophilia has been a strong theme for you.

Kitchens can adopt organic elements in so many ways too, such as using a variety of materials (including this year’s popular plywood), with plant-driven hues, through the addition of natural textures in walls/flooring, and with awe-inspiring botanical murals.

Luxury with a low profile

In addition to the continued nature theme, we’re also seeing more interest in understated luxe. We’re talking about the sort of high-end finishes that can only be spotted by someone with a keen eye. The final flourishes that can easily slip under the radar. And minimal upgrades that can transform your kitchen, but your guests may not be able to quite put their finger on it.

The devil really is in the detail. So don’t overlook the little things. Because they’re actually pretty big in the grand scheme of design…

A few tips on where to invest your money in 2024

• Gold hardware and fixtures

• Solid oak or marble countertops

• Luxury light fittings

• Dark colours like black or navy

This kind of quiet luxury is the opposite of being showy. So keep things low-key and never overdo any elements within your concept. A great way to achieve minimal luxe on a budget is to adopt classy concepts such as moody florals – we think this is ideal for large, open-plan spaces where you can create a feature wall.

Warmth + texture = perfection

Another one of our favourite kitchen trends 2024 has shown us so far is all about cosy, comforting hues and tactility from our walls to our floors. The use of texture in interior design has long been used as a tool for creating depth and dimension while also raising the profile of a space and adding a true sense of quality.

The warm and textural kitchen is not only aesthetically sound and full of pleasing sensory elements for those experiencing the space around them, but it’s welcoming for anyone who visits.

Exposed brick or marble are ideal for appealing to our sensory needs. But if you don’t have the budget for a full renovation, or you just want to dip your toes in the water, opt for a rustic-looking brick mural instead.

This will free up your budget to spend on other luxury elements in the kitchen and allows you to update the wall easily when you fancy a change.

Texture continued…a look at 3D walls

Going off the back of the textural trend, another style we’re seeing a lot of is 3D design elements, particularly with walls. Instead of plain paint jobs, designers are gravitating towards raw plaster or 3D tiles.

By choosing three-dimensional walls over smooth finishes, you can add so much more interest to your kitchen. This can be particularly liberating if you’ve always had a plain, minimalist kitchen. A great design idea is to elevate your space with some beautiful, touch-worthy tiles.

In 2024, there’s a lot of focus on zellige tiles as well as the comeback of terrazzo tiles – and you can get the look for less with our terrazzo wallpaper collection.

The full spectrum of greens

Green is a major colour for kitchens in 2024 and we’re not discriminating this year when it comes to our colour palette. Light green, moody greens, bold greens, subtle greens, greeny-blues or greeny-greys, vegetal greens, forest greens, or greens that are barely even there. We’re embracing each and every one and mixing and matching for a full celebration of this nature-inspired hue.

One of our favourites is emerald green because it’s rich and daring, and it encapsulates an adventurous spirit. If you’ve played it safe with olive and sage in your kitchen, why not level up with something much more eye-catching, like this ‘Emerald Hills’ mural? Drumroll…our ultimate kitchen trend 2024

There are so many trends to think about this year if you’re redesigning your kitchen, but our ultimate kitchen trend to watch is all about coffee. That’s right, you heard it here first! Coffee stations and coffee corners are all the rage right now.

So, if you’re a filter coffee kinda person and shun the instant stuff, this 2024 kitchen trend is for you. Anyone who owns a milk frother will agree this isn’t just a fad. It’s a lifestyle. Not only do coffee stations create a nice space for socialising, but they can turn your morning coffee moments into something so much more relaxing, engaging and aesthetically pleasing.

Forget running to Starbucks…just stay home and enjoy your favourite brew with a stylish coffee area to call your own.
